Rarely does my husband and I have the same time off. So when we realized that we had 4 days off at the same time (how did that happen?!?) we jumped at planning our epic getaway trip. So follow us with our Ultimate Weekend Getaway Guide to Dayton, Dundee and McMinnville.

Since I am a big planner (Gasp, what a surprise!) I started with a packing list guide to ensure nothing is forgotten. Be sure to pin it for your weekend planning!

We left Portland mid-morning and enjoyed an easy drive down I-5 for our first stop at our accommodations for the weekend at The Vintages Trailer Resort. We arrived stayed over Thanksgiving weekend so most shops/eateries were closed. But we came well equipped with some snacks. We stayed in for the evening sipped on wine, played games and cozied up in our sweet new digs for the weekend. A perfect start to a relaxing weekend.

Friday morning we were picked up at the Trailers by the NW Wine Shuttle  with a ‘taste at your own pace’ motto and with disruption (meaning you can get on and off wherever you choose) service for some of the greatest wineries. They map out locations and stow your wine purchases (neatest part about it) for you so all you have to worry about is what Pinot you want to taste next. This family owned company makes you feel right at home in wine country. Be sure to check them out any chance you get!

Our first stop was the…

Babica Hen Cafe

where we enjoyed the tastiest Brunch. Do yourself a favor Come here. Eat Here. Order the Fried Chicken Waffle with Sweet Potato Mousse, Coconut and Rum Caramel and Shredded Smoked Pork with Green Chile Hollandaise and Cornbread. You’re Welcome.

Next Stop, a hop skip and a jump, Actually it’s like a few steps next door and you find yourself at…

Angela Estate

Named after the owner’s wife and rich history not only in Wine Country but also Africa. We had a quick lesson on the different types of soil that produce different flavors while sharing a tasting, SCORE!

We recommend the 2013 Pinot Noir ,in our Opinion, it’s not much to go off but we promise it’s delicious. Then we hopped back on our shuttle and off we went to. . .

Hyland Estates

Where we enjoyed a beautiful scenery. The ground are beautiful and with a sweet little sunroom overlooking the garden that keeps you free from the rain and able to sit and enjoy a nice glass on the patio.

We recommend the 2015 Ros├ę Wine and the 2015 Gew├╝rztraminer.

Sokol Blosser

This was one of our top two favorite spots. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and we got a peek at the Cellars and had a chance to taste some of the Chefs pairing creations.

We took a few photos in the Photo Booth section finished up our tasting and headed off to. . .

Stoller Family Estate

This venue is one of my favorite locations. Overlooking rolling hills and oe of the most beautiful tasting rooms I have ever seen. Check out our post about Oregon Wine Country from last summer to see pictures of inside. The Winter Market was in full effect and we got the chance to enjoy Gilled Cheese and Tomato Soup while shopping vendors like Quin Candy, Nineteen27 and Yes Way Rose -by the way the cutest shirts ever!

Red Ridge Farms

We have been huge fans of this company and couldn’t wait to visit! Such a beautiful view and sad we could not spend more time here! There is a lovely shop with some of the most beautiful gifts and the aperitif vinegars are just amazing! Check out some of our recipes in which we have had the pleasure of using some of these fabulous ingredients!

Orange You Glad I Mint Whiskey?

Olive Oil Cake with Fresh Berries

We picked up some new olive oil and vinegars (newest recipe coming soon!) to go and headed to our last stop of the day.

Red Hills Market

We finished our evening at The Red Hills Market and enjoyed the Smoked Jerk Chicken Pizza (Gluten Free Options!) and a Cocktail that about blew my mind. I am generally a fan of Whiskey and when I heard that Red Hills made a Old Fashioned with aged Vodka (!) I had to try it. It was amazing and they even shared the amazing the Starka Old Fashioned recipe to take home with me. It doesn’t stop there this market also sells wine, beer and snacks to go. Just make sure you make it before the dinner rush there wasn’t a open spot in the joint. Recommend getting your order to go but definitely a must see.

The Vintages Trailer Resort

Before we left our stay for the weekend we enjoyed breakfast in our trailer with The Rise & Shine which made Brunch easy and we didn’t have to leave our trailer or leave our pajamas. Weekend approved! Check out the rest of the promotions gang in our Stay at The Vintages post. We then hit up the General Store onsite which has some of the best souvenirs and took our very own Nineteen27 S’more Kit home with us. Seriously if you have not checked this place out yet you have to!

After we cleaned up and put on socially acceptable clothes. We headed to the Carlton Ciderworks Orchard Party! We tasted and enjoyed pairings by Ruddick/Wood which was on our list to try but we never got over to the Restaurant so we were excited to try some of their food!

We recommend the Citizen, Imperial, Sugar & Spice (Seasonal), and Summer Set. We did try the Sidra…honestly wasn’t a fan…very interesting (funky) on the palate but we want to try it with food and give it another go.

Flag + Wire

grabbed a Woodsman Coffee to share and Fresh Fruit Crostata and Blueberry Creme Cheese Croissant to go and headed over to Ransom Distillery to finish our weekend.

Ransom Distillery

As our last stop for the weekend. We shared tastings of the wine, spirits and cocktails. If you make it out to Mcminnville this is a must see.

We recommend the Ransom Old Tom Gin and any of the Four Whiskey’s. I am a huge fan of these Spirits and can’t wait to start using them in some new recipes.

Hope you get a chance to make it out to Dayton and surrounding areas! Be sure to let us know what you thought and if you have another spot that comes highly recommended we can add it to our list!
